A new direct flight connecting Ahmedabad and Keshod, located in Junagadh district, has been inaugurated to ease travel for pilgrims to the revered Somnath temple. This move aligns with the Gujarat government's efforts to boost tourism in the region, officials announced on Tuesday.

The Somnath Trust has launched a complimentary pickup service for pilgrims arriving at Keshod airport, ensuring swift transit to the temple. 'Travel time from Ahmedabad to Somnath has been cut down from eight hours to just two, thanks to this initiative,' said Kaushal Kapasi, a passenger lauding the service. The air-conditioned bus service, appreciated for its comfort, caters particularly to the needs of the elderly and children.

Jagriti Kapasi, another traveler, noted, 'The Diwali festival marked the inception of the first flight from Ahmedabad to Somnath, a boon for devotees. The Somnath Trust's provision of air-conditioned buses is a special feature, and I urge travelers to make the most of reaching Somnath within two hours from Ahmedabad.' The Trust provides complimentary bus services for passengers alighting from new and existing flights, including those from Mumbai to Keshod.

Vijay Singh Chavda, General Manager of the Shri Somnath Trust, stated that the bus service from Keshod to Somnath is free for travelers arriving from both Ahmedabad and Mumbai. 'This initiative enhances the amenities available to pilgrims, adding value to their pilgrimage experience,' Chavda told ANI.

These developments not only facilitate smoother travel but also reflect the dedication of both the Gujarat government and the Somnath Trust in enriching the pilgrimage experience for devotees. (ANI)
