In a significant legal development, the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi permitted Aam Aadmi Party MP Swati Maliwal to travel to the United States. Maliwal, who is embroiled in a recruitment 'irregularities' case, received the court's nod for her visit scheduled from November 2 to 15, 2024.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh granted this permission, allowing her to attend a session at the United Nations Assembly in New York and to meet her ailing sister in Michigan. The decision came after her legal representatives, Advocate Sanjay Gupta and Raj Kamal Arya, presented her case.
The court noted that Maliwal is set to participate in the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York from November 4 to 8. Following this, she intends to visit Michigan from November 11 to 15. The prosecution did not object to her travel application.
