Authorities in Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh, have seized 300 kilograms of adulterated Mawa, a key Diwali ingredient, transported from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The raid took place early Friday morning at Dewas gate bus stand, following intel about the illegal consignment, according to district food safety officials.
Basant Dutt Sharma, District Food Safety Officer, spearheaded the operation aimed at intercepting dangerous food products as the festive season approaches. Officers retrieved the contaminated Mawa packed in ten 30 kg bags. The confiscated product was traced as it was offloaded from a bus parcel service.
Praveen Jain, a suspect identified without a food license or registered shop, is under interrogation to trace the distribution chain. Investigations continue to uncover potential links and recipients in the area. Further action is planned following the probe results, Sharma stated.
