A Gujarat police constable was arrested for the murder of a 23-year-old MBA student in Ahmedabad, transpiring from a tragic sequence of events that began with an argument over rash driving.
The constable, identified as Virendrasinh Padheriya of Sarkhej police station, was located in Punjab after fleeing the scene, according to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Om Prakash Jat. Padheriya is currently being transported back to Ahmedabad by a team from the city crime branch.
The victim, Priyanshu Jain, a second-year student at Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), was fatally stabbed following a heated exchange with the driver of a speeding vehicle. The confrontation escalated when the driver pursued Jain and his friend, eventually attacking him with a knife. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Jain succumbed to his injuries. Law enforcement subsequently released a sketch of the suspect and offered anonymity for assistance in the case. The attacker faces murder charges under section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and additional charges under the Gujarat Police Act.
