The tenth round of commercial coal mine auctions has seen strong participation, with 31 companies entering bids, the coal ministry revealed in a recent statement. Among the notable contenders are JSW Steel, JSW Energy, ACC Ltd, and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL).

The auction has drawn significant interest, with more than 10 companies participating for the first time. A total of 67 coal blocks were offered for sale in June, and the government received 44 bids for these mines.

These submissions are now under the scrutiny of a multi-disciplinary technical evaluation committee. Companies that qualify will advance to the electronic auction, which will be hosted on the MSTC portal.
