Nation Bids Farewell to Ratan Tata at Mumbai's Iconic NCPA

The mortal remains of esteemed industrialist Ratan Tata will be on public display Thursday at 10:30 am at NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai for paying final respects. According to Tata Trust's statement, the remains will be taken on its last journey at 4 pm.
The public is advised to enter NCPA Lawns via Gate 3, with exits at Gate 2, and no parking available on-site. At 4 pm, the remains will proceed to the Prayer Hall at Worli Crematorium, Dr E Moses Road, for the final rites. Preparations are ongoing at NCPA as citizens prepare to honor Ratan Tata before his last rites.
Marine Drive road is closed beyond the Oberoi hotel as police cordon the passage to NCPA Lawns. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital at age 86 on Wednesday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to attend the veteran industrialist's final rituals on the Government of India's behalf. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the last rites will feature full state honors.
Maharashtra has declared a day of mourning, with national flags at half-mast and no government cultural events. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers nationwide have expressed their grief over Tata's passing. Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Tata led the Tata Sons and significant philanthropic trusts. In 2008, he received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award.
