In the wake of devastating floods in Muzaffarpur, residents have been compelled to abandon their waterlogged homes. The flooding, primarily due to substantial water discharge from Kosi Barrage in Birpur following relentless rainfall in Nepal's catchment areas, has seen river levels soar to dangerous heights in several districts.

The Congress State Office has responded with relief material distribution to the impacted regions. Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh has urged the government to adopt a proactive stance, questioning the dual governance system's efficacy when communities are in crisis, and criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for lacking prompt action.

The Chief Minister's office reported his inspection of flood-affected areas to evaluate ongoing relief efforts. Northern Bihar and Nepal suffer massive inundation due to released water from Kosi and Gandak barrages, and subsequent flooding in Sitamarhi followed a breach in the Mandar dam. The situation has submerged numerous villages, notably along rivers like Bagmati, Kamla Balan, and Adhwara Group.

By October 3, in Muzaffarpur's Aurai block, significant flooding compelled residents to evacuate, creating makeshift roadside shelter. District Magistrate Subrat Kumar Sen cited breaches in local dams aggravating the situation. To assist the stricken populace, community kitchens have been established, prioritizing the worst-hit areas, alleviating the burden on displaced families.

Despite the ongoing challenges, floodwaters have begun to recede in areas including Supaul, Sitamarhi, and West Champaran, lending a measure of solace to the distressed residents.
