Israeli Strikes in Gaza: Rising Casualties Amid Heavy Rainfall
Two Israeli strikes in Gaza killed at least 10 Palestinians and worsened conditions for the displaced residents dealing with heavy rains. Medics reported casualties at a school shelter in Nuseirat and a home in Deir Al-Balah. The UNRWA highlighted the need for more shelters with winter approaching.
Two Israeli strikes in Gaza on Monday resulted in the deaths of at least 10 Palestinians, including four children, exacerbating the plight of displaced residents who were already grappling with severe flooding from heavy rains.
One strike targeted a former school-turned-shelter in Nuseirat, while another hit a house in Deir Al-Balah. The Israeli military stated it was targeting a Hamas command center. Meanwhile, Hamas claimed an ambush on Israeli vehicles in Rafah, further intensifying the conflict.
Flooding has worsened living conditions in makeshift camps, driving up prices for tents and plastic sheeting. The UNRWA has called for more shelters and supplies as winter looms, stressing that plastic and fabric are insufficient against cold and rain.
