Karnataka BJP leaders filed a formal complaint with the Police Inspector of High Ground Police Station in Bengaluru against Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the USA concerning SC, ST, and OBC communities. The state unit accused Gandhi of making divisive and provocative remarks targeting these communities, endangering India's internal security, sovereignty, unity, and integrity.
The state unit also sought an investigation into the statements and legal action. Earlier this month, Rahul Gandhi, while interacting with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, mentioned that the Congress Party would consider scrapping reservations when India becomes a 'fair place.'
When asked about reservations, Gandhi highlighted the lack of participation from Dalits, Adivasis, and OBC communities in the system, labeling India as not a 'fair place.' He reiterated the need for a caste census, stating that 90% of the country's population—OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis—are not adequately represented. He referred to this issue as the 'elephant in the room,' emphasizing the lack of involvement of lower castes in major businesses, the judiciary, and national media.
Following these remarks in the USA, BJP leaders have scrutinized Gandhi heavily.
