Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Polls: Training for Polling Staff as Modi Rallies Support

Ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections, a training program for polling staff is being conducted in the Budhal Assembly constituency on Sunday. Voting for the 90-member assembly is scheduled to take place in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with counting on October 8.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the upcoming assembly elections will determine the governance direction of Jammu and Kashmir. He accused major political parties of 'pariwarwad' and emphasized that terrorism is on its last breath. Modi highlighted the transformative change in the region over the past decade.
The Prime Minister remarked that stones previously used for violence are now building a new Jammu and Kashmir. He also criticized 'pariwarwad' for stifling youth leadership, asserting his efforts to foster new leaders in the region.
In contrast, National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmed stated that the election atmosphere favors his party. Ahmed noted significant public support during his campaign and expressed confidence in securing a win for the National Conference, particularly in the Rajouri legislative constituencies.
