IMD Forecasts Significant Rainfall Across West, Central, and East India

The India Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall across several regions in India, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall expected in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh over the next week. A deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh is likely to cause significant precipitation.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall over various parts of West and Central India in the upcoming week. According to an IMD release, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat state will witness varying degrees of rainfall.

IMD projected isolated extremely heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh from September 15 to 17 and in West Madhya Pradesh on September 17 and 18. The department also reported a deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, which might trigger further rainfall.

Significant precipitation is expected in Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya. Notably, Haryana saw heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, with similar patterns observed in several other regions including Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.
