Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday. The leaders expressed confidence that the INDIA bloc would secure a massive majority in the forthcoming state assembly polls.
The meeting followed the defection of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren to the BJP. Soren, who resigned from JMM citing dissatisfaction and 'bitter humiliation,' recently joined the opposition party.
While Hemant Soren termed the meeting a courtesy call, political insiders believe election preparations were discussed. The Congress and the JMM currently govern Jharkhand in an alliance.
