As the hunt for a sixth 'killer' wolf continues in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, a 50-year-old woman named Pushpa Devi was severely injured in a wolf attack on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at around 10 pm in Raipur Korean Tepra village while Devi was sleeping. The wolf attacked her by grabbing her throat. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to Bahraich District Hospital for treatment.

The victim's son-in-law recounted the harrowing event, stating, "The attack happened at 10 pm while she was asleep. A child might have opened the door, allowing the wolf, which was hiding nearby, to enter and attack her. Neighbors rushed to her aid, causing the wolf to flee." This latest attack has intensified the fear among the local population.

Earlier on Wednesday, another attack left an 11-year-old girl injured, and she is currently being treated at a local government hospital in Mahasi. On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department captured the fifth of the 'killer' wolves, with one still on the loose. The wolves have been responsible for numerous attacks in Bahraich. The department has captured wolves and taken them to a rescue shelter.

The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department had launched 'Operation Bhediya,' aimed at capturing a pack of wolves responsible for recent attacks in 25-30 villages under Mahsi tehsil. Snap cameras have been installed at likely wolf habitats to monitor movements and aid in their capture. Specifically, three cameras were set up in Sikandarpur village near six caves identified by locals as wolf habitats. So far, these wolf attacks have resulted in 9 fatalities and over 40 injuries in various Bahraich villages. (ANI)
