Doctors are calling for an open and transparent discussion with the West Bengal Minister of State for Health, Chandrima Bhattacharya, regarding the RG Kar medical hospital incident, amidst ongoing protests by doctors in Haryana. On Thursday, Dr. Arnab Mukhopadhya emphasized that while all discussion channels are open, their prerequisite conditions are not unreasonable.

'We have observed a public meeting organized by the state government. MoS Health Chandrima Bhattacharya expressed a desire for a discussion with us, which we are also keen on,' said Dr. Mukhopadhya. 'We demand the discussion be live telecasted to maintain transparency. While he feels disheartened in an AC room, we are here, and our conditions are fair. Our protest continues.'

Meanwhile, junior doctors protested at Swasthya Bhawan in Salt Lake, West Bengal. On Wednesday, the West Bengal Medical Council held a rally in Kolkata, demanding justice for the RG Kar rape-murder case, with banners calling for punishment for the perpetrators and their accomplices.

Earlier, doctors at RK Kar Hospital refused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's invitation for a closed-door meeting to resolve the impasse over their refusal to return to work. Dr. Aqeeb stated that the meeting invite came from the principal secretary, not the Chief Minister, and did not mention the Chief Minister's involvement. They reiterated their stance by sending a mail to the CM office outlining their five demands.

The incident involves the rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate medical student inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9.
