A faction of Congress party workers held a demonstration outside the CBI office on Wednesday, pressing for an expedited investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor.
The protesters blocked AJC Bose Road, burned tyres, and vowed to intensify their efforts if the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) fails to arrest those involved in the crime. Senior Congress leader Santosh Pathak warned of potential political interference and promised more vigorous actions.
The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with the CBI conducting its probe under judicial supervision following directions from the Calcutta High Court. A civic volunteer was arrested shortly after the woman's body was found at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
