Coal supply to the power sector saw a 5.4% drop in August, reaching 58.07 million tonnes compared to 61.43 million tonnes during the same period last year, according to an official statement released Tuesday.

The ministry emphasized that ensuring coal supply to the power sector remains a priority. From April to August this fiscal year, coal supply to the power sector hit 338.75 million tonnes, marking a 4.13% increase over the previous year's 325.33 million tonnes.

Nationwide coal supply during April to August rose by 5.17% year-on-year to 412.69 million tonnes. However, the overall coal supply in August declined slightly to 69.94 million tonnes from 75.19 million tonnes last year, attributed to higher precipitation affecting mining and transport. The ministry remains dedicated to meeting energy demands through consistent coal production and supply.
