India remains cautious yet open to selective business with China, clarified foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar during a conference in Berlin. The dialogue comes amid ongoing diplomatic and military tensions following fatal 2020 clashes on the Himalayan border.

Post-clash policy measures included stringent scrutiny on Chinese investments and halting major projects. Yet, high-ranking officials, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, have supported increasing Chinese investments to spike global exports, as indicated in the latest economic survey.

India aims to ease restrictions in non-sensitive sectors like solar panels and battery manufacturing to foster domestic progress. Diplomatic talks have shown slow progress, but reconsiderations on visa limitations for Chinese technicians suggest a cautiously optimistic approach.
