Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, according to a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday. The election took place in a meeting held in New Delhi, which aimed to reconstitute the committee in the wake of the new government formation.

Amit Shah, first elected as chairperson in 2019, expressed gratitude to the parliamentary committee members for their unanimous support. In his speech, Shah emphasized that efforts over the past 75 years to promote Hindi have experienced a methodological shift in the last decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, aiming to foster Hindi as a complementary rather than competing language.

Shah highlighted various initiatives, including the creation of a comprehensive Hindi dictionary incorporating local languages and developing translation software for languages included in the 8th Schedule. Asserting the necessity of national governance in local languages, Shah shared his vision for India's linguistic landscape by 2047, underpinning it with cooperation and acceptance.
