Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar assured on Friday that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful Ganeshotsav festival in the city. Speaking to ANI, Kumar stated that 22 police help centers have been established and extensive security measures, including traffic regulations and crowd management tactics, are in place.

Kumar highlighted that particular attention is being given to prevent crimes against women, mobile theft, and pickpocketing. He also mentioned that meetings have been held with various Ganesh mandals throughout the city, resulting in excellent cooperation and coordination between the mandals and the police.

A total of 7000 police officers and personnel, including SRPF and QRT teams, have been deployed to handle any situation. Additionally, sabotage squads and metal detectors have been positioned at sensitive locations.

Kumar also declared a complete ban on the sale of liquor on the first day of Ganeshotsav as well as September 17th and 18th, the Visarjan days. A proposal has also been submitted to prohibit liquor sales in areas under the jurisdiction of Vishrambagh, Faraskhana, and Khadak police stations for the full 10-day period.

In reference to the recent murder case of NCP Corporator Vanraj Andekar, Kumar stated that all suspects have been arrested and will face charges under stringent laws like MCOCA and BNS. Efforts continue to curb criminal activities and prevent recurrence. Kumar also warned that criminals will face severe action, noting that if their properties are used for illegal activities and are unauthorized, legal steps will be taken to demolish such structures.
