Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Principal Secretary, PK Mishra, on Wednesday praised Gujarat's agriculture sector for its remarkable transition from subsistence-based farming to a diversified and market-oriented economy over the past 25 years.

Speaking at an event commemorating the foundation day of the Agro-Economic Research Centre (AERC) at Sardar Patel University in Anand district, Mishra emphasized sustainable agricultural practices, such as soil testing, conservation tillage, and the adoption of advanced technologies like remote sensing, GPS, drones, and AI, for long-term productivity and environmental health.

Mishra also advocated for renewable energy and bio-energy production from agricultural residues, urging the adoption of climate-smart practices to tackle climate change. He highlighted the need for investment in agricultural research, especially in developing climate-resilient crops, efficient water use, and innovative fertilizers.
