Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu revealed plans on Monday for a state-of-the-art multipurpose building in Vikasnagar, Shimla, to be constructed by the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA). The announcement came following a meeting with senior HIMUDA officials, according to an official press release.
The Chief Minister stated that the new complex, set to occupy a 10-bigha plot, will be one of Shimla's most modern structures. Estimated at a cost of approximately Rs 150 crore, it will feature government offices, retail spaces, a hotel, and two floors of dedicated parking. The groundbreaking ceremony is slated for January 1, 2025, with an 18-month timeline for completion.
Sukhu highlighted that the building's architecture would embody the cultural and heritage-rich spirit of Himachal Pradesh and incorporate green, eco-friendly designs with solar passive features. The detailed project report is to be prepared promptly, and HIMUDA has been instructed to expedite the construction process to ensure timely completion.
