Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Khatima firing incident by garlanding their statues at Shaheed Sthal in Khatima. He stated that the people of Uttarakhand will forever be indebted to these heroes who sacrificed their lives for the state's future.

Recalling the tragic incident of September 1, 1994, Dhami noted that the first martyrdom for the creation of a separate Uttarakhand occurred on Khatima's soil. He expressed pride in the state's identity born from such sacrifices and pledged to fulfill the dreams of these state agitators through dedicated development efforts.

Chief Minister Dhami detailed ongoing initiatives to uplift the state, including strong anti-copying laws and horizontal reservations. Special focus was given to women, with a 30% reservation and pensions for families of martyred agitators. Dhami also highlighted substantial achievements like the top national ranking in Sustainable Development Goals and upcoming projects like the Industrial Smart City in Udham Singh Nagar.
