YSRCP spokesperson P Shiva Shankar on Friday condemned the Andhra Pradesh government over the 'hidden camera scandal' at Gudlavalleru Engineering College, describing it as a heinous crime and a governmental failure. Addressing the media at the party's central office, Shankar stated, 'The placement of hidden cameras in the girls' hostel washroom is a heinous act.' He highlighted the significant distress this incident has caused among students and their parents, claiming that the state's education system has deteriorated since the coalition government assumed power.

Shankar demanded strict identification and punishment of the culprits, criticizing the government for its inaction as 300 students protested at Gudlavalleru Engineering College since Thursday midnight. He questioned why the college management concealed the issue for a week despite student complaints, and why the police were not promptly informed or failed to respond if they were.

Pointing to deeper concerns, Shankar mentioned that the main suspect had Jana Sena posters on his Instagram. He criticized the contradictory statements from state authorities, with the government claiming an ongoing investigation while police stated no evidence was found. The YSRCP official social media handle shared a post expressing outrage over the incident, claiming that the college, linked to a TDP follower, attempted to suppress the information.

Earlier, students had protested against the alleged installation of hidden cameras in the girls' hostel washrooms. However, Gudlavalleru Sub-Inspector Satyanarayana refuted the allegations, stating, 'No hidden cameras have been found on the premises so far, but the investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.'
