The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has reported severe weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. According to Scientist A Sravani, Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh received an unprecedented 27 cm of rainfall, causing widespread flooding. A yellow alert was also issued for Adilabad in Telangana.

'A low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal on August 30,' Sravani stated, 'which intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area by August 31. It crossed as a depression on midnight of the 31st, bringing heavy rainfall and wind to both states.' She added that Krishna district's severe rainfall resulted in extensive inundation.

Additionally, the depression brought significant rainfall to Telangana, with Mahabubabad district receiving 40 cm and Thirumalayapalem 24 to 27 mm of rain. A considerable number of locations experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, leading to flooding in Khammam, Suryapet, and Mahabubabad districts.

Sravani also indicated potential rainfall in the northern belt of Telangana, particularly in Adilabad, where a yellow alert remains in place. An initial assessment report by the Telangana government estimates losses at Rs 5438 crore, affecting various departments including Roads and Buildings, Energy, and Agriculture.

In response to the crisis, 110 relief camps have been organized, successfully relocating over 4000 individuals to safety, according to the government report. The Meteorological Centre continues to monitor the situation as the depression moves east of Vidarbha near Chandrapur district.
