Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has categorically dismissed allegations that his administration is using drones to spy on Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur. Speaking to reporters, Sukhu described these accusations as 'baseless' and assured that the government would undertake a thorough investigation into the matter.

Sukhu further announced that a letter would be sent to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to inquire if any surveillance on the Leader of the Opposition is being conducted by these agencies. Meanwhile, he criticized Thakur for 'walking out of the House without listening to anything' and accused him of using such tactics to stay in the news.

Regarding the accusations of drone surveillance, Sukhu stated firmly, 'The Himachal government is not spying on anyone. This is a serious matter, and we will ensure it is thoroughly investigated.' He also accused the previous administration of compromising Himachal Pradesh's interests, citing a reduction in royalty rates on four power projects which, according to him, led to a significant economic decline in the state. Sukhu warned that companies involved in these projects could face state control if they do not comply with government conditions.

On the other hand, Jairam Thakur has vehemently countered these claims, arguing that the opposition is not given adequate time to speak in the House. 'We have been wearing black badges inside the House in protest. The BJP MLAs are not given the opportunity to discuss the issues they raise,' Thakur said. He also accused the government of using drones to surveil the opposition.

Thakur criticized the deferral of salaries for the Chief Minister and ministers as a 'political move', urging the government to focus on substantial financial reforms instead of symbolic gestures. The political tension between the ruling government and the opposition continues to escalate, with both sides accusing each other of manipulating the situation to grab headlines. (ANI)
