The Czech Republic's energy security envoy, Vaclav Bartuska, has downplayed concerns over a potential halt in oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline from Russia via Ukraine. Speaking on Friday, Bartuska responded to comments made by Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak, who suggested that the flow of Russian oil could stop as soon as January.
Bartuska emphasized that this is not the first warning issued by Ukraine regarding a potential disruption in oil supplies. He underscored that the Czech Republic is well-prepared to handle such a scenario, and it remains to be seen whether the halt will actually occur.
The envoy's statement reflects a broader strategy of energy security and diversification aimed at reducing dependence on singular sources amid geopolitical uncertainties.
