The Karnataka High Court is scheduled to hear the case against former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on charges of sexually harassing a minor, with the hearing set for Friday. Previously, Justice M. Naga Prasanna presided over the POCSO case alongside Yediyurappa's petitions for anticipatory bail.
A bench led by Justice Naga Prasanna had issued an order extending the exemption that prevents BS Yediyurappa from being arrested, allowing him to attend the hearing. Meanwhile, the victim's lawyer has pushed for Yediyurappa's arrest and interrogation and requested additional time to present their arguments.
The POCSO case, registered on March 3, 2024, at Sadashivnagar Police Station, prompted an FIR against Yediyurappa. Given the case's gravity, the government transferred it to the CID, which subsequently summoned Yediyurappa for a hearing, where he submitted his statement. Yediyurappa has since petitioned the High Court to quash the charges and grant him anticipatory bail.
