Govt Appoints New Chiefs for CISF and BSF

The Central Government on Wednesday appointed senior IPS officers Rajwinder Singh Bhatti and Daljit Singh Chaudhary as Directors General of CISF and BSF, respectively. Bhatti will serve until September 30, 2025, while Chaudhary will lead until November 30, 2025.

The Centre on Wednesday appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rajwinder Singh Bhatti as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) until September 30, 2025, a government order stated. Meanwhile, senior IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary has been appointed as the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) until November 30, 2025.

According to the Department of Personnel and Training, Bhatti, who belongs to the 1990 batch of the Bihar cadre, will assume the role of CISF Director General in Level-16 of the Pay Matrix. His tenure will last up to the date of his superannuation on September 30, 2025, or until further orders. In a similar appointment, Chaudhary, also a 1990 batch IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh, will take charge of the BSF in the same pay level, with his tenure extending up to November 30, 2025.

The CISF, formed in 1969 to secure sensitive public sector undertakings, has evolved into a multi-skilled organization with 1,71,635 personnel. Currently, it provides security to 358 establishments nationwide, including 67 airports, the Delhi Metro, government buildings, and heritage monuments. It also offers VIP security and has a Fire Wing operating in 104 establishments. Following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, CISF's mandate was expanded to include private corporate establishments.
