The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have jointly launched the 'Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life' campaign at Modern School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. The event, held on Wednesday, seeks to educate and raise awareness among students, teachers, and parents about the perils of drug abuse, promoting a drug-free lifestyle.

The program featured compelling presentations and lectures addressing the causes, effects, and prevention strategies related to substance abuse. Experts shared essential prevention insights and emphasized the need for collective efforts in spreading awareness about this societal menace.

An interactive Q&A session concluded the event, providing a platform for participants to engage directly with the speakers. The offline program was also live-streamed on the CBSE YouTube channel, ensuring broader outreach across CBSE-affiliated schools nationwide.

The campaign highlighted the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, India's primary legal framework against drug abuse and trafficking. The Act enforces strict penalties, including life imprisonment or the death penalty for severe offenses involving substantial drug quantities. Additionally, it emphasizes the treatment and rehabilitation of drug-dependent individuals.

The NCB, which enforces the Act, collaborates with various agencies to classify penalties based on drug quantities—small, intermediate, and commercial. The Act also includes provisions for confiscating properties linked to drug trafficking and measures under the PITNDPS for detaining individuals to prevent illicit drug trade.

CBSE is planning to sign an MoU with NCB to further promote drug abuse awareness across all CBSE-affiliated schools. The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, Neeraj Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director General of NCB, N Mrinal, Additional Director of NCB, and Vibha Khosla, Principal of Modern School.
