Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has announced that relevant ministers will convene next week to discuss securing local approval for the restart of Tokyo Electric Power's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant.

The plant, which saw its operational ban lifted last December following safety breaches, remains offline awaiting local consent.

Kishida expressed his commitment to advancing Japan's green transformation and ensuring the plant's restart before the end of his term in September.
