ZF Wind Power Achieves Milestone with 50 GW Wind Gear Box Production at Tamil Nadu Plant
ZF Wind Power has produced 50 GW of wind gear boxes at its Tamil Nadu factory, marking a significant achievement. The company has invested Euro 230 million in its Coimbatore plant, which is key to its domestic and global market strategy. The plant aims to increase its annual manufacturing capacity to meet growing wind market demand.

ZF Wind Power, an arm of ZF Group, announced on Tuesday the production of 50 GW of wind gear boxes at its Tamil Nadu facility, signifying a major milestone. The company has committed Euro 230 million to this project, underscoring its dedication to the Indian market. This plant is now the largest in the world for wind gearbox production outside of China.
According to Professor Dr. Peter Laier, Member of the Board of Management at ZF Group, this investment aligns with the company's long-term goals and reinforces the 'Make in India' initiative. The expansion will bolster India's objective to double its wind power capacity by 2030.
With plans to increase manufacturing capacity from 9 GW to 12 GW annually, ZF is positioning itself to meet rising market demands. Akash Passey, President of ZF Group in India, emphasized the plant's role in sustainability and customer satisfaction. The Coimbatore plant also boasts a robust Centre for Research and Development, and incorporates advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact.
