An Indian man residing in the United States was reportedly shot by two youth who forcefully entered his home in Amritsar's Daburji area, police stated on Saturday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Harpal Singh revealed that two young men arrived on a motorcycle, entering the house at around 7 am, as the victim prepared to go to the gym. They sought information about the registration papers of his luxury car to gain access.

The attackers fired three shots with the intent to kill. Two bullets struck the victim, but when their weapon jammed, they fled the scene, according to officials. Eyewitness Amandeep Kaur stated that five people, including two children and an elderly woman, were present in the house during the incident. Despite the children's pleas, the assailants pursued their violent agenda until the weapon malfunctioned.

Amritsar Commissioner of Police Ranjit Singh Dhillon reported, "Sukhchain Singh from the Daburji area was attacked by two men who entered under the pretext of inquiring about his car's registration. He lives in America and had come to Punjab a month ago." Following the attack, Singh was immediately hospitalized and is now recovering. His family has filed an FIR against five relatives of Singh's ex-wife, suspecting their involvement.

Singh's father-in-law added, "Those men entered our house and held Sukhchain Singh at gunpoint. We suspect his ex-wife's relatives are responsible. Justice must be served." The treating doctor, Krishnan Srinivasan, confirmed that Singh, who had sustained injuries to his face and hand, is currently in a stable condition.
