Preparations for Krishna Janmashtami in Vadodara, Gujarat, are in full swing, with local puja shops well-stocked with decorative items for Lord Krishna idols. This year's trend involves adorning Krishna Lalla in a style similar to Ram Lalla from Ayodhya, with complete sets available in the market.
A local shopkeeper mentioned, "Devotees can decorate their God in any way they want. A variety of decorative items, including crowns, tilaks, earrings, armlets, and more, are available. This year, sets resembling the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya are particularly popular."
"Jewellery, including pearl, zardozi, karachali, and gold and silver pieces, is also on offer," the shopkeeper added. Despite higher prices this year, the market is witnessing a large number of devotees. A customer, Barsha Parikh, noted, "The best part of coming here is choosing from a wide variety of decorative items, making it easy to find everything needed to adorn Krishna Lalla."
Meanwhile, Ayodhya is also set to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami grandly, with markets adorned with cradles, swings, garments, and jewellery for the occasion. This marks the first Janmashtami after the completion of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Celebrations will take place on August 26 across the country, with significant festivities in Mathura and Vrindavan, where Krishna spent his youth.
