India's power demand is set to increase at a higher rate of 15GW per year for the next six years compared to the previous decade's 11GW annual growth, a senior government official announced on Friday.
By 2030, about 85 GW of additional demand will be added during solar hours and over 90 GW during non-solar hours, stated Additional Secretary Power Srikant Nagulapalli at an Industry Conclave organised by IEEMA.
''Although the CAGR may not fully capture this growth, in absolute terms, it signifies a substantial leap. To accommodate this rise in demand, we are expanding coal capacities alongside solar, wind, storage, and transmission capacity,'' Nagulapalli added.
