India is commemorating its inaugural National Space Day, celebrating the anniversary of the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Senior ISRO scientists relayed their experiences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting on both the Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 missions.

B N Ramakrishna, Director of the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking & Command Network (ISTRAC), shared with ANI that Chandrayaan-2 represented a significant effort to achieve a soft landing on the moon's South Pole. He highlighted how arrangements were made for children across India to witness the event, emphasizing PM Modi's intent to spread scientific knowledge among the younger generation.

Pavithra Shinde, an ISRO Scientist, noted the evolution in ISRO's approach, emphasizing transparency in their processes and public engagement. She mentioned that although PM Modi couldn't attend the Chandrayaan-3 landing due to G-20 commitments, he participated virtually.

Following Chandrayaan-3's successful landing, PM Modi declared August 23 as National Space Day, naming the landing site 'Shiva Shakti Point' and the Chandrayaan-2 site 'Tiranga Point.' On this day in 2023, India became the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the moon, marking a historic achievement.
