Prime Minister Modi Addresses 2023 Batch of IFS Officer Trainees

Officer trainees from the 2023 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence. According to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office, the group included 36 trainees from 15 different states and Union Territories.
The trainees lauded the government's foreign policy achievements under Modi's leadership and sought his advice for their futures. Modi encouraged them to uphold India's cultural heritage proudly and to display it on overseas postings. 'Always carry our culture with pride and dignity,' he said.
Modi also urged the trainees to abandon colonial mindsets and act as proud representatives of India. He discussed India's changing global role, especially its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its trajectory to becoming the world's third-largest economy. He further recommended expanding engagement with the Indian diaspora in their postings.
