India is celebrating its first-ever National Space Day to mark the anniversary of the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Project Director of Mission Chandrayaan-1, Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, described it as a 'momentous occasion,' highlighting the nation's acknowledgment and appreciation of the efforts behind the mission. He expressed optimism for the upcoming unmanned Gaganyaan mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings via social media platform X, celebrating the milestone achievements in the space sector. He emphasized the government's commitment to taking more futuristic steps in this domain. On August 23, 2023, India became the fourth country to achieve a moon landing and the first to reach the lunar South Pole. Modi declared August 23 as National Space Day, themed 'Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga.'

Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Nitin Gadkari, and Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya also shared their enthusiasm. Puri praised ISRO's journey from humble beginnings to lunar achievements. Gadkari noted India's cosmic strides and future missions like Gaganyaan. Mandaviya reflected on the historic achievement and the nation's commitment to space exploration.
