Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured comprehensive support to flood-stricken Tripura, after speaking with the state's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, on Thursday. The Centre is deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with boats and helicopters, to aid local authorities in relief and rescue missions.

Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Tripura's capital, Agartala, displacing thousands and leading to several fatalities due to the overflowing Gomati River. Shah affirmed the Modi government's solidarity with Tripura, emphasizing swift Central intervention to address the crisis.

Chief Minister Saha has been actively inspecting flood-affected zones and relief camps, ensuring that all essential facilities are provided to the displaced. With 321 relief camps currently operational, the state government is prioritizing rescue operations and the health and hygiene of those stranded. Additional NDRF teams from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to bolster the ongoing efforts.
