Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed on Friday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has requested the final report on the recent devastating flood in the state.

During a telephonic conversation, Shah emphasized the need for a detailed report on the damage caused by the flood, which between August 19 and 23, claimed 36 lives and left over one lakh people homeless.

The call for the report follows former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's suggestion to send an all-party team to Delhi to urge the central government for quick release of rebuilding funds.

Saha reassured that an all-party delegation was unnecessary, citing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and guidance are sufficient. He mentioned that state officials have already gone to Delhi to submit the final report in the format requested by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Saha, addressing an oath-taking ceremony for newly elected members of the South Tripura Zilla Parishad, mentioned that the state government has announced a special package of Rs 564 crore from its own budget for immediate relief and restoration measures.

The Chief Minister highlighted that with prompt central assistance, including helicopters and rubber boats, the flood situation was effectively managed. He also urged the new Panchayat members to serve with integrity and transparency, promoting the governance principles set by Prime Minister Modi.
