The Union Health Ministry has announced the formation of a National Task Force (NTF) aimed at safeguarding medical professionals, in compliance with a directive from the Supreme Court on August 20. The task force, consisting of 14 members, will be chaired by the Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India.

This comprehensive panel includes high-ranking officials and medical experts, such as the Home Secretary, the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, and the President of the National Board of Examinations, among others. The NTF is assigned to submit an interim report within three weeks and a final report within two months.

According to the office memorandum, the task force will devise an action plan focusing on preventing violence against medical professionals and ensuring safe working conditions. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will provide logistical support for the task force members, including travel costs and secretarial assistance.
