Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy criticized the Congress government on Wednesday for failing to fulfill pre-election promises concerning farmers' loan waivers. 'Today, farmers are protesting across Telangana. I demand the Congress government fulfill their promises to Telangana farmers,' Reddy said.
Reddy emphasized that farmers will not rest until their loans are waived. The Congress had pledged a full loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh as part of its 'Warangal Rythu Declaration' ahead of the Assembly elections. However, the scheme was later split into three installments, causing widespread dismay among farmers.
Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working President KTR announced protests on August 22 at Mandal and Constituency centers, demanding an unconditional loan waiver. KTR criticized the Congress for contradictory statements and highlighted that only a fraction of the promised funds has been disbursed, leaving many farmers disappointed.
