The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has announced August 28, 2024, as the final date for declaring exotic animals listed under Schedule IV of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. As per the regulations, individuals who possess such specimens must report and register them electronically via the PARIVESH 2.0 portal.

The new rules for reporting and registration were introduced under Section 49 M of the Act and were notified through a Gazette Notification dated February 28, 2024. Numerous individuals, organizations, and zoos currently possess these exotic species.

All concerned parties have a six-month window, expiring on August 28, 2024, to comply. Failure to register these animals through the PARIVESH 2.0 portal could result in penal actions. The Ministry urges prompt action to avoid any legal consequences.
