Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has clarified that the Hema committee report on the Malayalam film industry was not deliberately withheld. Responding to media queries on Tuesday, Vijayan stated that Justice Hema had requested that portions of the report containing sensitive personal information not be released publicly.

The CM emphasized that there has been no intentional withholding of the report. Justice Hema's request for confidentiality was to protect sensitive disclosures made by women in the industry. Vijayan assured that the government will tackle illegal and misogynistic tendencies in the film sector with strong resolve.

Further, Vijayan addressed the issue of potential actions against those implicated in the report. He stated that anyone, regardless of their status, would be held accountable if complaints arise. The report's confidential content led to its suppression under the Right to Information Act. The Information Commission's decision to release the report, omitting sensitive sections, faced legal challenges which were recently resolved, allowing for its release.
