Congress Prepares for Key State Elections, Aims to Defeat BJP

In a crucial meeting held at the AICC headquarters in the national capital, Congress top brass strategized for the upcoming Assembly elections in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra. The primary objective, as stated by party general secretary KC Venugopal, is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in all four states.

General Secretary KC Venugopal, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, emphasized alliances at the state level. Venugopal confirmed, "Wherever our State Committee is there, they are planning for alliances. Our main motive is that all four states should defeat BJP." The meeting included Congress Screening Committee (CSC) members, General Secretaries, and in-Charges.

In a post-meeting statement, Lok Sabha MP KC Venugopal expressed optimism, saying, "We are fully geared up for the upcoming elections. There is palpable anger against the BJP and its allies, and we are confident of a victory, fulfilling the people's desire for a pro-poor, pro-people government." Assembly elections in Haryana will take place on October 1, while Jammu and Kashmir will have a three-phase election from September 18 to October 1, announced Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. Due to security concerns, Maharashtra elections are postponed.
