In a significant crackdown, police arrested a man from the Jalukbari area of Guwahati for allegedly extorting money while impersonating a CBI officer. Fake police uniforms, I-cards, badges, and toy pistols were recovered from the accused, identified as Fayajul Hazarika, alias Denish.

Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Barah detailed how Hazarika and his accomplice, Gautam Saikia, were apprehended. Saikia had allowed Hazarika to use his vehicle, which was also seized during the operation. Among the items recovered from Hazarika's rented room were police uniforms, toy pistols, and a forged CBI identification card.

Hazarika, a habitual offender, assured gullible individuals of job placements in exchange for money, falsely identifying himself in various authoritative positions. A case has been registered at Jalukbari Police Station, and legal proceedings have begun, according to police officials.
