Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took swift action on Monday to ensure the educational and medical needs of a 12-year-old orphan from Nirmal district are addressed. This came after learning that the girl had to rely on public donations to perform her mother's last rites.
The Chief Minister instructed Nirmal district Collector Abhilasha Abhinav to oversee the girl's welfare, according to an official release. The girl will now be enrolled in a state-run social welfare residential school, where she will receive free education and medical treatment, if required.
The tragedy unfolded when the girl's mother, a daily wage earner struggling with alcoholism, allegedly committed suicide. Unable to afford the funeral costs, the girl was left stranded until local residents and police officers contributed funds to cover the expenses.
The funeral was finally conducted with the community's support, highlighting the pressing need for intervention. The government's prompt response aims to secure a stable future for the young girl through comprehensive social support.
