India Approves 251 MW Electricity Exports from Nepal
India has approved an additional 251 MW of electricity exports from Nepal, marking the first time Nepal will supply power to Bihar under a medium-term agreement. Nepal is now exporting 941 MW of hydropower. This move is part of a broader long-term trade agreement aimed at exporting up to 10,000 MW from Nepal to India over the next decade.

India has officially sanctioned the export of an additional 251 MW of electricity from Nepal, marking the first instance where the Himalayan nation will provide power to Bihar under a medium-term sales agreement, an official statement revealed on Monday.
According to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Nepal, 'India's Designated Authority for Cross-Border Trade has approved an additional 251 MW of power exports from 12 hydropower projects in Nepal.'
This new agreement increases Nepal's power exports to 941 MW from 28 projects, up from a previous 690 MW. Prior to the approval, Nepal had already become a net exporter of electricity, generating NPR 16.93 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year.
