Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena has been repatriated to his cadre state of Bihar, where he is likely to be appointed as the new chief secretary, officials said on Saturday.
Meena, a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is set to take on the new role following approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The decision was issued through a personnel ministry order dated August 30, which stated the move was based on the request from the Bihar government.
Amrit Lal Meena had been serving as the coal secretary since October 2022. An official indicated that Meena is expected to assume the role of chief secretary in Bihar shortly.
