DRI Intercepts Passengers with Rs 3.33 Crore Gold Dust at Mumbai Airport

DRI officers intercepted two passengers at Mumbai airport and seized 4,525 grams of gold dust valued at Rs 3.33 crore. The gold, found in wax form, was concealed in a jacket pocket. Both passengers have been arrested under provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.

Officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted two passengers at Mumbai airport, discovering 4,525 grams of gold dust in wax form valued at Rs 3.33 crore. The operation was based on specific intelligence and targeted passengers traveling on Flight No EY 206 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai.

DRI stated that upon conducting a personal search, officers found four packets of foreign-origin gold hidden in tailor-made jacket pockets worn by one of the passengers. The jacket was handed to him by another passenger in Abu Dhabi.

The gold dust, valued at Rs 3.33 crore, was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Both passengers were arrested and have been remanded, the DRI confirmed.
