In a significant state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday, approval was given for presenting the supplementary budget during the assembly session scheduled in Gairsain on August 21. The session commenced with a poignant tribute to Captain Deepak Singh, who was honored with a two-minute silence following his death in action.

Key decisions marked the meeting, including a special acknowledgment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their roles in adjusting NDRF and SDRF rates, as indicated by a Ministry of Home Affairs letter dated August 14. Such adjustments are seen as critical for efficient disaster management.

Other cabinet discussions included renaming the 'State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand (Setu)' to 'State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand (Setu) Commission,' aligning it with central government commissions. Amendments to the Uttarakhand Food Security Service Cadre rules and approval to table the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited's annual financial report were also deliberated.

Additionally, Chief Minister Dhami lifted the employment ban on dependents of deceased cooperative and public sector sugar mill employees, based on a 2018 government directive. The move aims to provide employment based on eligibility and available vacancies, ensuring support for the affected families.
